Pentagon to roll out new cyber-security certifications for industry

Some new cyber-security standards and protocols drafted by the Pentagon for the defence industry will be released next month. Industry compliance will be foreseen for those standards becoming mandatory for all US armed forces contracts starting from spring 2020. Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Ellen Lord told reporters during a 10 December briefing, that “the cybersecurity maturity model certification, or CMMC program, establishes security as the foundation to acquisition and combines the various cybersecurity standards into one unified standard to secure the DOD supply chain”.
