2019 saw an increase in cyber theft from bank accounts in Russia

Feb. 19 – The Central Bank of Russia published an annual report on the status of the Russian banking sector.

In the report, it reports that around one hundred million euros (6.4 billion roubles) were stolen in 2019 from private and corporate accounts through more than half a million cyber-attacks across the country.

Russiaโ€™s Central Bank said the number and entity of unauthorised operations rose, but statistics from 2018 were not published so it is currently not possible to determine how significantly they increased.
