The Trump peace plan leads to increasing tensions in the West Bank

Feb. 07 – The Trump peace plan, announced on January 28th by US President Donald Trump in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, is currently producing the unwanted effect of increased violence between Israel and the Palestinians in the West Bank.

In the first week after the proposal was announced, at least two Palestinians were killed and sixteen Israelis were wounded in a series of protests and attacks in Jerusalem and the West Bank settlements.

Trumpโ€™s proposal would give Israel a great part of what it has fought for in the last decades, i.e. Jerusalem and the settlements in the Palestinian territories, and it wasnโ€™t accepted peacefully by Palestine and the Arab world, while the EU rejected part of it.
