Putin and Russia take coronavirus precautions

Kremlin said on Wednesday that President Vladimir Putin is taking precautions to protect himself against coronavirus. Meanwhile Moscow authorities launched a mobile app designed to track people who have been ordered to stay home because of the virus.

Putin will chair a government meeting on video conference later this Wednesday, a day after a doctor who met him last week declared to be positive with coronavirus.

Moscow city official said on Wednesday that authorities had developed a smartphone app that would allow officials to monitor the movements of who have contracted the virus. The official, Eduard Lysenko, told to the Ekho Moskvy radio station that the app will be available starting from Thursday.

Lysenko said also that the municipality of Moscow is also preparing a QR-code system where each resident will be assigned a unique code registering online, to be then showed to police officers if stopped down the streets going for grocery or medicines.
