German Foreign Minister raises pressure on Russia about the Navalny case

Aug. 31 – During a conference in Paris, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas confirmed that Europe will keep up pressure on Russia to improve their efforts to clarify the case of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny’s poisoning.

“It is this awareness that makes multilateralism the cornerstone of European foreign policy,” he said. Furthermore, Maas remarked that “dark clouds” are gathering over the relationship with Russia, which must “contribute more to clarify” the Navalny case.

The Kremlin opposer, after being poisoned while he was on a plane and receiving first medical cares in an hospital in Siberia, has been airlifted to a Berlin hospital and is trying to recover.
